Inspiration

Have you ever watched inspiration arrive — felt it numb your skull from the inside? Felt like you could reach the sky with your hands, standing knee-deep in a river of forgetting?... How many times has crushing hopelessness driven the body back down to its knees? A strength that most people deny even exists fills you fuller than you were before. How often, having reined in your own eloquence, instead of healing with words, only wounding, did you land, on the person across from you, a forbidden blow straight to the liver? So much has been said with an open heart, meant to carve itself into memory forever, but we dissolve instead into the memory of a carefree, easy childhood. We've filled our thoughts up completely with foul language and shamelessness. And we feed the gaps in our own growth on the crowd's easy approval. Night. Can't sleep. My heart is racing. "Wind of Change" playing through my headphones. Notes of unease creep in — inspiration has come to visit again.
