Doubting's a little bit scary

Doubting's a little bit scary, Everyone round's just waiting for you to fail. There's no chance of a second try, really, And there's not much time left, all in all, as well. This pile of needless doubting Drags you further and further from the goal. A heap of pointless flailing about — That's it, you've stalled, you're stranded on a creative shoal. What'll you say? Even attempts are futile. The meanings of words have turned into a game. Even if at the speed of a snail, Keep working with a restless hand all the same. Write. If the writing comes at night, Keep a notebook under your pillow, near. Tape your sticky notes up tight, Let them hang there, if need be, a year. Preparation's the soil of the process. The search for meaning — a steady brace. To bring down the level of stress, Switch off the light all over the place. So, left in darkness, terrified, You'll understand — there's no other way to go. Like a dog that someone dumped outside — You'll find the treasured path back home, you know. Into that state where, as from the horn Of plenty, everything pours — just see. Eat, pray. And listen to God Who speaks inside of you and me.
