After the winter, springtime came along

After the winter, springtime came along, Birds on the branches sang out like a choir, And, moved to tears beneath the axe's blow, The whole pine forest weeps with living resin. The birches, sobbing, give away their sap, Thawed out after a fierce blizzard's games. The ringing brook began to chirp and chatter — Small servants running to the river goddess. The beasts woke up, the forest came awake From long and necessary rest. Unseen by northerners, the rising Southern Cross, Proclaiming the eternity of order. The stars have changed. The light smoothed out the dark Like butter on the earth's own slice of bread. And the sun stitched a yellow ribbon thread Across the pale-blue vault of heaven's arc. Nature breathed out the carbon dioxide It held before a new cycle of life. Spring comes and goes, for who knows which time, Filling the world with unsurpassed meaning.
