Let's rejoice every single God-given day

Let's rejoice every single God-given day. Not defile, but only praise with every word. So we're never too lazy to bow down to the ground To kitties, to doggies, to piggies and cows. From the outside it seems nothing fazes them Yet in exactly the same way, day after day They are themselves, and this joy, in silence, They bring into this world. And feed the wolfish appetites Some with milk, some with the flesh of their young Just imagine, this is nothing short of hell. A swing of the axe — and the soldier never came back from the field That's heroism for you, only without the medals. No one hands out nests to birds for this, Or a pension bonus for having more stars. Horses aren't set free in the open field for their service: Go on, horse around in the rye, and live in bondage no more. And the attitude — just listen — "animal", "cattle", "swine" How are they all not sick to death of it? They'd manage without us, easy We'd hardly last long. Not long ago, where the cold was something else, We hid our shame and kept warm under their skin. Yes, there were times, shoulder to shoulder everywhere To work with the dawn, and the work for the people's good. But like any effective symbiosis Without due attention it's headed for its apotheosis. Just like, with no roses and no dinners out, One fine day your wife will stop listening. But here's the paradox.. we, with the faces of saints, Having proudly taken our lesser brethren captive Though it's logical — there are more of us And, what's more, we've made far craftier weapons Hid behind the tender word "lesser", hypocrites if not for faith, then this evolutionary chimera Would have smashed everything to bits, to pieces From lust, from eternal cosmic bliss, Now even Mother Terra is in bondage to homo ephemera What for? For columns and expensive interiors? For the sake of winning approval from an imaginary power Of such kindly foxes with feathers in their jaws. And it's just not clear — how much more does it take for a day to come when everyone would be glad And not to catch that day with filth, but catch it with glory And, as always, build a new world on old bones.
