I Was Sure I Saw the Signs
I was sure I saw the signs,
But kept on sitting, twiddling my thumbs.
I could've gone from the Greeks to the Varangians,
But it was like I feared the parting.
I was scared to drop the familiar image,
Scared so bad my hands would shake.
So many times I took out the magic compass,
But not for real, just out of boredom…
Scared to think not that way, otherwise.
Otherwise how else do you pull yourself together,
When you can hear one part of the soul crying,
And the other one is scared of parting?
It feels like tectonic plates collided,
And mountains are growing on the seam.
The old path turned out to be closed,
But the supports grew stronger, it seems.
I can protect my mind
And try to love my body.
It's really hard to do it all at once,
But, the way I see it, really bold.
I'm trying to understand the signs,
Stretching out my hands to the skies.
I keep walking in pitch-black darkness,
Leaning on the experience of parting.
