Don't you dare say you're not the same

Don't you dare say you're not the same anymore. Don't you dare whine, like, "I wish I had your years," Grew up without a father, and the childhood woes — Let them vanish like the Cheshire Cat, Leaving behind nothing but a faint smile. You're here! You've… eaten the golden fish, But sitting on the stake is probably too much — You'd have to explain it to family, friends somehow… And then again, you could, since you've got the guts, Only the belly keeps you from moving dynamically. Enough for the workbench and to last till the bell, Everything else is scary and painfully unfamiliar. Painful in the muscles and, of course, in the brains. Even in dreams they long for rest. Alas, those dreams melt, and on another bender, With an unwashed body and in stinking socks, Swollen, red, with grey at the temples, You wait for distant days, but victorious ones. Free weekdays in pink brushstrokes, Where the body's lean, the cheeks a little pale. And it doesn't matter, what matters is you're here! That oh so right on time life slipped you a trampoline Or landed you a good solid kick. Thanks for not being a dog, no brand behind the ear. And not a fly among its brothers on the shit. That you've been honored to live inside and live outside. The weight of wants and a whisper of discontent — Drown out that useless childish grumbling! After the hard weekdays there'll be a lullaby. And dreams like a fairy tale, no lumps in the porridge, And loads of cartoons, and grandma, and jam. Not a life — a blast. Pure delight. And you can run marathons around the house, Set records. Everything unknown Try to explore with your lovely little body. Hop like an innocent lamb with a pure heart, In peasant foot-wraps or like a braggart soldier in combat boots. Serve whatever dharma prophesies, Guard your temple, tangling karma's Already whimsical and dancing pattern. Don't let events cloud your sight. Don't wait for gifts — life itself is the reward. It cheers bravo and sings — you're just what's needed.
