Not the New Testament

Not the New Testament. Nor the Old. Just an attempt to understand where I end and where you begin. I'm not teaching you how to live, son. I'm still learning myself — from shadows on the wall, from mornings when the heart is heavier than the body, from chance people who come only to leave and still leave something behind. You are not my continuation. I am not your root. We are two lines that met by chance and for a while ran in the same direction. It always seemed strange to me — how can you pass on a path? A path isn't an object. You can't bequeath it, can't put it into someone's hands, can't explain it in words. It straightens out only inside and only when the time comes. I made mistakes. You'll have your own. And that's fair. Mistakes are the only language the soul understands. Advice doesn't translate into it. I won't tell you how to live. Too many times I've seen people break trying to fit into someone else's rules. Want to walk — walk. Want to fall — fall. But if you get up — do it yourself. That's how you'll learn what a step is worth. Know just one thing: I was once afraid of the dark, until I understood that darkness is just a room before the light gets switched on. And the light always switches on from within. And if one day I'm gone — don't look for me in memory. I'm not there. I'm in the decisions that you make when there's no one around. And in that quiet moment when you first understand: you are you. Not a continuation. Not a reflection. Not a project. Just a unit of the path that chooses for itself — where to grow. And that's enough, son. The present is more than enough.
