Poems from a Stool · 2024

We're all afraid, without a pause

We're all afraid, without a pause… But what, in essence, is our fear? Like a cobbled street on a winter morning, It freezes instantly on mute lips. Once, in childhood, recklessly, to the limit… We threw ourselves into the whirl of passions. We stubbornly pushed ahead, risking our bodies. We endured it all for the sake of our ideas. In middle years, our ardor damped, We sell our dream, trading it for comfort. Behind a bastion of knowledge the flame has dimmed… The weak in spirit — they spit on the spark. Friends, don't be afraid and don't doubt. To walk your own path is a sacred goal. Smile sweetly even at death. When she comes — drag her into bed. And in the morning, whip her up some eggs.. While she's still asleep — sharpen her scythe. An angel will toss from the tree of discord Some White Transparent apples, and kalach rolls for tea. The Father will see it and, like rain on the roofs, Will shed a little tear, not believing his eyes, That someone down there has heard his commandment And truly serves, even if it's executioners. Don't be afraid, don't be afraid of anything, children. Give joyfully, asking nothing in return. Don't get caught in the devil's nets. Even if you don't want to bend the knee. Don't be afraid to believe in a small miracle. Let fear drain from a relaxed brow. We'll all return again to the place where Everything is woven from cells of love.
